Over the last month, our lives have changed in ways we never expected. What started with Chris getting hurt on his dirtbike ended up uncovering something that ultimately saved his life.

Because of that accident and the testing that followed, doctors discovered a large 5cm colon mass. After it was removed and sent to pathology, we learned that it was an advanced precancerous polyp, in the last stage before invasive cancer.

One of the things that has stuck with us most is what his doctors have told us: if Chris had waited until 45 to get checked, we would not be having the same conversation today.

He is only 40.

Throughout this experience, multiple doctors have stressed how important it is to pay attention to symptoms and get checked. They are seeing serious precancerous changes and colorectal cancer in younger people, and being “too young” should never be the reason someone ignores what their body is telling them.

It sounds crazy to say, but a dirtbike accident saved Chris’ life.

After everything we have gone through, I wanted to create something meaningful that could help bring awareness, start conversations, and maybe encourage someone else to make that appointment they have been putting off.
